The Dutch East Indiaman Rijnenburg (Scottish records know different spellings) was built in 1704 on the shipyard of Amsterdam; she served the Kamer van Amsterdam and the Kamer van Hoorn on two voyages between the Dutch island of Texel and the VOC posts in Batavia and Ceylon.

Classiefied as a fluit (according to VOC record) of 618 ton she left Texel on 9th March 1713 and wrecked 15th March 1713 at Mu Ness (according to most registers).

Most of her cargo was salvaged and stored at Muness Castle under the guard of the Earl of Morton before it was transported back to Amsterdam - according to Shetland Archive Service [undated], MS/3025, no. 78 on a ship called Young Tobias which must be different from the Young Tobias of the VOC.

Different to all Scottish records Gerard van Keulen's map entitled Het Eyland Hitland met Zyn onderhoorige Eylanden : Wort by de Engelsche Shetland genaamt has an entry next to Linga stating Hier op is't Oost-Indies Ship Rijnenburg gebleeven (On here the East India Ship Rijnenburg was lost).
