Robert Lyle Johnson, born Setter Mid Yell 30th January 1929, died 4th March 1993, farmer, archivist, historian, and genealogist was the author of A Shetland Country Merchant: being an account of the life and times of James Williamson of Mid Yell, 1800-1872, published by the Shetland Publishing Company in 1979. Johnson was a regular contributor to The New Shetlander and other journals and was the nephew of Laurence G. Johnson who, in 1971, wrote an account of the life of Laurence Williamson, the son of the above James Williamson.
