Roy Grønneberg

Roy Grønneberg, Shetland author and one-time proprietor of The Hjaltland Bookshop, was born in Lerwick February 16th 1947. He was a linguist and a scholar of Shetland's Nordic past and a passionate advocate of greater automony for the islands. He founded the Shetland branch of the SNP and, with fellow SNP activist Bill Adams, he designed the flag now adopted as the Shetland Flag. Roy died June 13th 1997.

Grønneberg was a regular contributor to local journals. His main published work as editor and author is as follows:
