The Scottish Socialist Party (SSP) is a radical left-wing Scottish political party which campaigns on a socialist economic platform and for Scottish independence.

The SSP had a strong and active branch in Shetland, which campaigned against the invasion of Iraq, supported anti-deportation campaigns and campaigned against council plans to charge for social care provision.

Thanks to a damaging split, the party currently has no members in the Scottish Parliament, although it once had six, and two local councillors, although its main focus is on grassroots community campaigns. Its primary campaigns at the moment are the provision of free nutritious school meals and free public transport as well as opposition to the war in Iraq and campaigning against the council tax.

In the 2007 Holyrood election it contested only the regional list seats.
