Saltness, or Salt Ness, is a small settlement on the west coast of the island of Whalsay, off the east coast of the Shetland Mainland.
Saltness lies between Symbister Harbour and North Voe, northwest of the main island settlement of Symbister.
An old map from 1902 shows Saltness as the landing point for the sub-sea telegraph cable from the Mainland.
The schooner William & Robert was wrecked at Saltness on 30th September 1748.
