The Scalloway Hotel, on Main Street, Scalloway, was built by John M. Aitken for Donald McInnes. The hotel was finished on the 12th May 1886. Donald McInnes died suddenly in the hotel on 11th December 1888. His wife Euphemia, carried on running the hotel for a further 3 years.
