Shetland's Young Heritage
Shetlopedia - The Shetland Encyclopaedia
Shetland's Young Heritage, a group of talented young Shetland fiddle players, was formed in 1981 by the late Dr Tom Anderson MBE, who believed that the best way to preserve the traditional Shetland fiddle music, was to encourage the children of Shetland to carry it forward.
This belief was not wrong, and if proof was needed, look no further than the career of Catriona Macdonald who was one of the early stars of the Young Heritage.
Tom Anderson had great success in the revival of traditional fiddle music during the 60's and the 70's with the formation of The Forty Fiddlers, but Shetland's Young Heritage took his vision one step further.
