The Signe, (formerly the Glan, the Edith and the Stora Lee), a steamship, 1540 GRT, 78 L x 11 B metres, built 1882, registered in either Helsenburg (presumed Helsingborg, Sweden) or, Mariehamn, Aland, Finland (available records are in dispute), and carrying a general cargo. This vessel is assumed to have been lost with all hands as the result of being mined or torpedoed, in the vicinity of Fair Isle on April 2nd 1940. A raft carrying the remains of one crew member, Karl Arne Emanuel Sundblom, of Naversholma, Fuglo, Aland, Finland, aged 20, was recovered, and was interred in Fair Isle Kirkyard.
