Much of the establishment of the Baptist religion in Shetland is largely credited to the work of Sinclair Thomson.
Born on September 3rd 1784 at Scarvester, (Spelt Scarvister in some records), in the Parish of Sandsting. One of at least four children (some records state ten children, seven sons and three daughters), of Magnus Thomason, who had Foula ancestory, and Margaret Banks.
