Skyinbow, the name for a Shetland fiddle tune, was adopted by Kenny Johnson as the name for his business.
Kenny started repairing fiddles in the early 80's, but was drawn to the idea of creating an electric fiddle which would sound as good as an acoustic instrument.
The first instruments Kenny created were traditional fiddles with pick-ups added but, in 1997, after a lot of effort and a few in-between ideas, Kenny eventually patented the S1 Electric Violin.
In 2005 Kenny designed and patented the Pure Acoustic pick-up to give acoustic fiddles the best possible interface with the electronic music medium.
