Shetlopedia - The Shetland Encyclopaedia
Built by Hall Russell, Aberdeen in 1931 to replace the St Sunniva , which had been wrecked on Mousa, the St Sunniva (II) exuded an air of luxury which was unlike any of the other ships on the northern routes at that time.
She served on the Leith/Aberdeen/Lerwick summer service from 1931 to 1937
When war broke out she was requisitioned and used initially as an accomodation ship in Scapa Flow. She was later detailed as a convoy rescue ship, and during this duty was lost with all hands 0n 22nd January 1943.
