Talk:9 Chapel House

I think this belongs in the Accommodation Category, but perhaps it should be toned down a bit from being an advert to being an informative article.
Then we could add a business info template and a picture of Chapel House... Not sure if we have a pic of that,, if not we must add that to the 'Wanted List'
In fact, Chapel House deserves a page of it's own. There's a lot of history there.

Accomodation sounds fine, but 'Breiwick Bay' has got to go, doesn't make sense.

A bit of a re-work and pull out the blatantly "Advert Copywriter" keywords certainly wouldn't be amiss, at the moment it reads like a copy and paste from a promotional brochure. Nothing major wrong with that per se maybe, but IMHO folk don't want to feel like they're being given a sales speil on what is otherwise an "information" site.

Accomodation/self catering would be the best ... as for the rest: To me it is a borderline prob. A detailed description of what is on offer but avoiding typical advert slang or simply claiming we are the best, the greatest, the only one in such a building or so. Personally I would think making the second sentence to appear as the first sentence and it should pass as a business page. Nevertheless, Chapel House might be an extra page as far as the building, its development and importance for the town is concerned ... may be as a "notable building" but I wouldn't mixe both parts. Someone just looking on Shetlopedia for accomodation might prefer the business page, someone interested in architecture or urban development might prefer the other one. Pressing both into one page might not meet the interests of both ... Might be a prob for other properties as well. Example: The Lunna House page is fine as it is ... adding the business template or describing the rooms on offer for the B&B place more detailed than it is might probably overstress the site ??? Not sure, but ... ;-) Islandhopper 15:04, 4 October 2007 (MDT)
Not to forget: It's one of the first "third party" contributions for a business ... and (me personally would say) wwe are dependend on such "third party contributions" to get "some butter to the fish" that's to say a bit more substancial info than the name of a business and its address ... ;-) Islandhopper 15:09, 4 October 2007 (MDT)

Exactly, Islandhopper. I just mean we should tone it down a little bit.
re-Written to include the same information, but less as an advert. With the addition of a business template, and it works for me. :-)
I meant Chapel House should have a page of it's own in the notable buildings/whatever category, to tell the history of it. Obviously that could also have links to any business venture such as this. In the same way as Lunna House, as a historical building is perhaps (must check this), linked to the current B&B useage of the building. Eg. not one page, but separate pages interlinked as required. ;-)

PS. Islandhopper, ;-)
I think you meant "first party" contribution. ;-)
We are trying to write/edit the articles as though they were from a "third party" perspective.
But, that's just my braincell fresh home from a Norskie Grammar night class... Wish I'd stayed awake through English grammar now. :-))) :-)))

>>>Wish I'd stayed awake through English grammar now. :-)))<<< *GGG* We were totured with "English grammar" at school ... but than I found out that the English/Scottish/British don't care much about grammar ... :-))) ... and in between I've learned that the Shetlan doesn't know a standardized spelling :-))) paradise for a none native speaker ... :-))) Islandhopper 15:46, 4 October 2007 (MDT)

I've added the photo that 9 Chapel House emailed to me. I haven't changed the text as it's 3am here and I need some sleep. Will have a look tomorrow.

Cheers

Thanks Islandhopper, You've just made my grammar problems feel not so much of a problem now. :-))) :-)))
BTW. A German at my night class said the following the other night:
If you speak three languages you are Trilingual,
If you speak two languages you are Bilingual,
But if you can speak only one language, you are English. :-))))
Robbie 16:24, 4 October 2007 (MDT)

Yup, Gary,
That looks great now.
As I say, perhaps a little rewrite to put it in 3rd person would be a good idea, but info is great.
Agree with Heimdal though, must be Brei Wick ;-)
Great to get folks adding info like this :-)
