As far as I know from family records, Dr Scott was born at Harden, a large family seat, near Hawick, in the Scottish Borders on 1 Jan.1812. Perhaps someone would like to check this. Undoubtedly he moved to Melby later, but his family (2 daughters and 1 son) were born in Plymouth, Devon.
- For what it's worth, the bayanne ancestory site states he was born at Melby, and that while his daughters were born at Plymouth, his son was born at Sheerness, Kent.
