Schevening (also: Scheveninghe) are older Dutch forms of the name Scheveningen. The name Emma (from Queen Emma ???) and the port of regestration Scheveningen would well fit for a HNLMS BDV visiting Lerwick a few days ahead of the awaited German fleet ... ;-) Islandhopper 14:03, 2 October 2008 (MDT)
- You're very probably right, your European knowledge has been missed when it comes to sorting out these wrecks.
- The record is so vague and brief, it was difficult to gain any real information from it.
- The term "Boom defence vessel", used in that era came across as nonsensical, as the only meaning I could think of for the term was that of a vessel employed in the deployment and/or maintenance of a boom of some sort, of which little if any use was being made back then, but that was me not thinking outside of the box.
