OOOOPS, now we have both 'Hays Dock' and 'Hay's Dock', what is correct ????Oddrun 18:29, 19 March 2007 (MDT)

Where not referring to file names etc. the museum website and others have it as Hay's Dock ... mostly ... ;-) Islandhopper 05:39, 20 March 2007 (MDT)

Hay's Dock is the correct form,(gramatically a possessive case noun). 'Hays Dock' would indicate a plural, i.e. more than one Hay. I don't think Hay's Dock (with the apostrophe) would work in a file name though ;-)Heimdal 06:22, 20 March 2007 (MDT)

Yeah, but the problem is that Robbie made a page on streets of Lewick, and called it 'Hays Dock'..it was abut the area..without the apostrope..we have to do something with that...;-), Oddrun 08:28, 20 March 2007 (MDT)

edit Islandhopper 10:02, 20 March 2007 (MDT)

No substancial difference between the pages. Merged content of both pages to this page. Can't see any "street" of that name but left the category; might be it is/becomes one, at least some sort of "postal address" for the museum ;-) Hays Dock might be deleted ?!? Islandhopper 10:02, 20 March 2007 (MDT)

I guess so, if not any autority has managed to make 'Hays Dock' an address ! ;-).everything is possible ;-), Oddrun 10:11, 20 March 2007 (MDT)

I guess that dear Mr Postman will manage to oversee the little apostrophe ... ;-)Islandhopper 10:33, 20 March 2007 (MDT)

Locally, the road leading down to Hay's Dock and Hay's shop is known as Dock's Road, but I don't know if that's official or not ;-) Heimdal 10:41, 20 March 2007 (MDT)

I tried to get into the f***ing museum's contact page, but my pooter frooze, and I had to restart it four times before everything worked again !!!!!! Will not try THAT again  ;-), Oddrun 10:45, 20 March 2007 (MDT)

... from the contact info at the museum website: Shetland Museum, Hay's Dock,

Lerwick, Shetland ZE1 0WP, Tel: 01595 695057 Fax: 01595 696729 ... ;-)Islandhopper 10:49, 20 March 2007 (MDT) ~ Guess you can delete 'Hays Dock' now ! ;-)))) ! Cheers, Oddrun 10:51, 20 March 2007 (MDT)

By the way: How old is your pooter? Might be afraid of being displayed in that said museum? ;-)Islandhopper 11:00, 20 March 2007 (MDT)

Re: Dock's Road,, it's Freefield Road the runs down from commercial road to the shop. I think I have heard the road that runs around the hay's site referred to as the Dock Road..

Re, Islandhopper,Only one and a half year, but I'm not always kind to it ;-), guess that too many things were opened at the same time ;-), it has a bit of Alzheimers sometimes !! Cheers, Oddrun 11:06, 20 March 2007 (MDT)

See Grant's Families, Hay of Hayfield, p117 for William Hay, I think we need to find more info about him.
