Talk:Highland Airways' Airline

The page and the year entries contradict each other. One says Highland started one day ahead of Aberdeen, the other has it the other way round.

The Sumburgh Airport Golden Anniversary brochure says on page 11:
The Early Days ...
It was the 2nd June, 1936. A de-Havilland DH89 Dragon Rapide ... piloted by ... owned by Aberdeen Airways, landed at Sumburgh Links, marking the beginning of regular scheduled flights. This aircraft winged its way into the history books by just twenty-four hours, as a similar machine belonging to the legendary Captain E.E. Fresson's Highland Airways touched down the following day.
I read that as Aberdeen on 2nd June were first, Highland the the following day (3rd June) were second, but don't have another source to check it out. ;-) Islandhopper 10:36, 3 August 2007 (MDT)
I think the brochure is right and Heimdal got a bit mixed up when he change my entry on and added his info to Shetlopedia time line. Here] is a pic of the Aberdeen Airways timetable for Aberdeen-Sumburgh comencing from 2nd June but might be a prob of weather permitting ... don't know :-)))) Islandhopper 10:51, 3 August 2007 (MDT)

I would hope the airport managed to get their own history correct in their own publication, but you never know. ;-)

I just took a quick glance through JWI's 'Dunrossness Story', but surprisingly he makes only minimal mention of the event, and I'm no help either, as although I've always heard it said they started up one day after the other, I have no idea who was first in.
