Talk:Main Test
I copied this from another wiki, I thought it was a nice layout and would be suitable for Shetlopedia. They also have a really good help section that we could also use.
I've started to change some of text, just to try it out, but this format would allow us to have links to much more on the main page than we have just now.
Please let me know what you think, and please add/change to it if you have a good idea.

Glad you think so. The text needs to be worked out, but the formatting is already done, thanks to the site that I copied it from.
It gives us a lot more space to add more categories on the main page, and to pick out certain subjects. So, after Christmas we could have a big Up Helly-Aa feature, and could highlight it on the main page.

To me that page looks like a travel-guide or something ,but I guess it depends on what text that is added in the different sections...

It is taken from a travel wiki, but I think the formatting is still good. We don't have to match the formatting exactly, but we can use it to get a better main page than the one we have just now. If you look at Shetlopedia.com Sandbox, you'll also see some other formats suggested earlier by James. I think we can cut and paste the bits from each of them that makes it work. We can test it out on this test page, and then when we're happy, it can go live. We can also take bits from other websites and make the front page that we want. This gives us a bit of a start.
I do like their help section and I'd be keen to use it.

James, I like what you've done with the Up Helly-Aa picture. It really improves the page and makes it stand out. I think the main page could look really good once it's done.

I don't think it needs to be there. I don't think it should be centered. But that was unusual yeah, I thought maybe its because the center starts in the code before it, and doesn't seem to have a closing bracket.:

I've now updated the main page, in time for the new year. I've copied accross the test page, apart from the how-to section which I'll make changes to first.
