Talk:Norway
I really don't think we need this article - thoughts? JAStewart 04:03, 21 March 2007 (MDT)
I've referred to it a few times already because there is some info in it that is useful in understanding the Shetland past.
I vote we keep it for now.
The Shetland Neighbours category I think was intended to also have historical info about Faeroe, Orkney, and possibly other trading partners, but it will need somebody with a great historical knowledge to write those pages :-)
That's my tuppence worth ;-)

- Pro - should be kept. There is a lot of articles which refere to Norway and I see it as a kind of "customer service" to the users to find a short start up info before going into details on other pages like wikipedia. Despite that I've only a question if we need so much "reds/dead links"???
- Have a similar page about Hamburg in the pipe but only with some interlinks to existing or foreseeable shetlopedia pages (don't want to write a new history/enzyclopedia of Hamburg;-) ) ... and at the end external links to both the German and Englisch wikipedia about Hamburg for further reading. I wanted to delete it long time ago, the whole thing is crazy !!, It has no end, it's just a copy from the English wikipedia, but stopped halfway, and the guy who did it never showed up again. So either we must delete it or someone copy the rest ;-), we are not in union with Sweden ! ;-)..I don't really know how to do it...and I don't want to write Norways history for the last 100 and something years...;-)))...Oddrun 11:48, 21 March 2007 (MDT)
- Deleted the stub but left the article. That will allow us to set a short interlink where needed within our texts without searching the orig. ext. wiki-link and leaves the chance to add our own text somewhen ... ;-) Islandhopper 12:03, 21 March 2007 (MDT)
THANK YOU !!! ;-), Hope not anyone shows up with something like that again !! Cheers ! Oddrun 12:11, 21 March 2007 (MDT)
"I really don't think we need this article - thoughts?"
Considering that Shetland was part of Norway for hundreds of years, that there were Shetlandic communities in Norway and there has been a relationship between the two places for thousands of years... I think the answer is, yes, we do need this article, and a mere redirect is no good.--Pett 08:03, 9 July 2012 (MDT)
