Talk:Planticrub
Agriculture is something I'm largely ignorant about, but the following quote strikes me as being somewhat contentious, if not incorrect:
- Although polytunnels and greenhouses are better at insulation, the planticrub has the advantage of being largely windproof

Leaving aside the other details, I'm curious as to where the info concerning crub usage originated from. While I can only comment on crub usage at the Ness, and appreciate other areas may have/have had different usage patterns. Ness crubs originally were nursery areas for Shetland Kale plants only, little if any "vegetables" (unless neeps) were cultivated on your average Ness croft before the 20th C. Crubs have only become used for vegetables etc as Kale has been grown less and less or stopped as the 20th C. progressed, resulting in less and less area required to provide the necessary plants to be transferred out in to growing plots.

- If any of you have better info, please put it in. I know little about growing plants. My parents did that kind of thing, but I've spent a lot of time in the city...--Pett 06:13, 29 June 2012 (MDT)
