I've added this recipe for Shetland oatcakes. Copied from an old handwritten recipe. Doesn't contain oven temperatures, etc. I'm sure there are other recipe's for Shetland oatcakes, they can be added to the same page.

Trex ? Trex ? where's the butter ? 'No buts, it's got to be butter':-)Heimdal 20:45, 2 January 2007 (GMT)

How many cakes ?? How do you shape them??  ;-) Oddrun 20:47, 2 January 2007 (GMT)

I copied the recipe from a hand-written note that was made about 15 years ago. Feel free to add an alternative recipe. I've already gathered a couple of other oatcakes recipes now and I'll be adding them on soon. Also going to add a few more recipes that I've collected.

I knew Shetland oatcakes had been made for many centuries, but I didn't think they dated back to the dinosaur days of T-Rex :-) , or is that the pop group?? :-) .
Seriously I'll ask my mum she makes great ones on a cast iron griddle, I think she only makes them when she can get local butter, the horrible artery clogging full fat stuff.
Oddrun, my mum makes them in a round which is marked in quarters so that it breaks easily into 4 parts when cooked.
