It would be good to have a picture here of the front of one of their Almanacs.
If anybody has one please upload, if not I will get one when I visit Shetland again, Dad has about 20 copies, some of them in near mint condition.

sounds good - the Almanacs are worthy of a page to themselves I'd venture. Also, heimdal's two titles raise two more for the Aathir category ... ken wha dey wir ava? Ex-isle 10:39, 8 July 2007 (MDT)

Did a search for Capt. A. Halcrow, and found this;

just noticed that there are two categories, one 'Shetland Publishers', the other 'Publishers'

Ex-isle 08:51, 9 July 2007 (MDT)

Ye, Ex-Isle. We're still trying to think of a way around the issue. The category Publishers links to the bussiness directory pages, eg. current publishers still in business. My immediate feeling is to leave it with the 2 categories.
If you add any old publishers to the category Shetland Publishers, then we can make the business category publishers link to that as well.
We'll do it that way for now until we have a better idea.

Almanac picture

As promised a scan of the front of a Mansons Almanac.
Dad had 2 copies of this year so let me have one.
I know it is within the 75 year copyright thing, but would scanning a few pages for an example of their publishing work be acceptable as a piece of historical data, of course mentioning the source, etc..?????
If it was OK, I think it could make a great page. What do you think????

Robbie, that's what Google.de does when you search the copyrighted stuff like the one Morula had pointed to. I think that 3 or for interesting examples like that should be absolutely ok Islandhopper 12:23, 6 September 2007 (MDT)
