Vaðillinn = Ford ??
I think that to give a correct translation to this, it should be: Vaðillinn = The Ford
Whereas: Vaðill = Ford
The emphasis being on Vaðillinn, as the substantive.
An example from modern Norwegian being: Fjord (any Fjord), and Fjorden (The Fjord)
"inn" in old Norse, is the same as "en" in modern Norwegian.

Of course, as usual, I may be wrong. But Norwegian grammar has pis**d me off so much, that I'm actually starting to understand it. :-)
