The Adrenaline
The Adrenaline (formerly The Munchies) are a 3 piece pop-punk band from Shetland. The band rarely play due to guitarist Arthur's involvement in Little Green Machine.
History
The Adrenaline were formed under the name of The Munchies in the winter of 2001 by Arthur Nicholson and Robert Balfour with Danny Inkster on drums. In August of 2002 they changed drummers and Fraser Hall (a former band mate of Robert from their first band 'The Grindahouligans') took over. In November of that year they ventured onto mainland Scotland playing at the Lemon Tree in Aberdeen and the Raigmore Motel in Inverness.
In July of 2003 they supported The Proclaimers when they performed at the Clickimin Centre in Lerwick. In September of that year Arthur went to University so gigs were only possible during the holidays. But the band soldiered on until February 2005 when Robert and Arthur decided to part company with Fraser. Arthur's flatmate Catherine was recruited to play drums and the band went straight in to record an E.P.
Compos Mentis E.P was finished and released in July of 2005 to coincide with the At The Edge Festival in Shetland. The band played several more gigs in the summer (including Da Big Bannock) before they all went down to Edinburgh where Robert was starting his first year of university, and Arthur and Catherine were going into their third year.
They played gigs in Edinburgh; Bannermans, Cabaret Voltaire, The Bongo Club and several other venues were ventured into before Christmas of 2005. However gigs in Edinburgh ground to a hault when Robert decided to leave university and go back to live in Shetland. The band played a couple more gigs in Shetland but decided to call it a day after playing in Mid Yell in April of 2006. They then played a final wonderfully subdued gig in Baroc. Reuniting once since then to support Little Green Machine at Captain Flints in July 2006.
Arthur now plays in Little Green Machine.
