The Bells Brae Collection of Shields
The Bells Brae Shield Collection is a collection of shields and replica shields from Lerwick Up Helly Aa dating back to the late 1920's. The collection is housed at the Bells Brae Primary School during the winter months and transported each year to the Galley shed for the summer exhibition. It began to be collected in 1964 for the opening of Bell's Brae as a hall in 1965.
1939 - 1955. No Lerwick Up Helly Aa between 1939 and 1949 because of World War 2. 1949 is original, but has been repainted slightly inaccurately. |
