Vaila Sound, (HU235480), on the southwest corner of the West Shetland Mainland, is a south facing bay sheltered by the island of Vaila.
At the north end of the sound lies the village of Walls. Boating access to the sound is either through Wester Sound, between Burrastow and Vaila, or through Easter Sound, between Vaila and Whites Ness.

In the centre of Vaila Sound is the uninhabited island of Linga.

The La Bonne Resolution wrecked at the entrance to the sound in November 1805, an unidentified Russian registered vessel, believed to have been operating as a smuggler wrecked in 1817, the Three Sisters wrecked in the vicinity of the sound on March 14th 1846, the Gem drove from anchor in the sound and wrecked on Limekiln Point on January 26th/27th 1877, and the Eros struck a rock and wrecked in the sound on December 19th 1885.
