Walter Scott (b. Around 1752 Scottshall, Scalloway d. November 30th 1808) of the Scott of Scottshall family, was a Lieutenant in the Royal Navy and Sheriff Substitute for Shetland from 1787 to 1808.
In 1798 he was appointed Major in command of a volunteer corps formed for the defence of the islands, a post he held until their disbandment in 1802. The corps were reconstituted in 1804 with 172 volunteers, with Scott again in command as Major.
