Washington
Shetlopedia - The Shetland Encyclopaedia
The Washington, a full rigged ship, laden with a cargo of timber, 1088 GRT/940 tons, built Quebec, Canada 1850, registered in Glasgow, Scotland.
Wreckage identfied as being from this vessel was found on the east coast of Bressay sometimes during 1850 or in January 1851 (the available records are in dispute), and it is presumed she had wrecked on that coast or foundered in the relatively close vicinity.
The Isle of Noss and Noss Sound are specifically mentioned in the record, however it does not state if they were the most likely location of the wreck, or the location where the greatest concentration of wreckage was discovered.
