Whiteness, ( Old Norse : Hvitanes = White Ness ),lies about 8 miles west of Lerwick, on the main road to the West Mainland. Included in the overall area of Whiteness are the settlements of South Whiteness, Nesbister, Wormadale, and Olligarth.
