Wolf
Shetlopedia - The Shetland Encyclopaedia
The Wolf, a full rigged ship, registered in The Netherlands, in passage from Archangel, Russia, laden with a cargo of tar, cloth and hides, wrecked at Otters Wick, East Yell on December 18th 1737. 300 barrels of tar, 3 or 4 chests of cloth and a few hides were saved.
It appears that three of the crew survived the initial wreck, but not the aftermath, as the records contain the following rather curious statement. "3 of the crew survived for 4 days but died when rescuers arrived". It is not recorded in the available records the circumstances and/or reasons how or why this was the case.
