Wrangels Palais
Shetlopedia - The Shetland Encyclopaedia
The Wrangels Palais was originally built by the Dutch in 1662, and was purchased by the Swedish Navy in 1669. She was taken into the Danish naval service after being captured in the Battle of Moen on June 1, 1677. She was lost on July 23, 1687, at Out Skerries after running aground on a submerged rock formation while in pursuit of Barbary pirates (corsairs) in dense fog. The site of the wreck was rediscovered in 1990 and is now protected under the Protection of Wrecks Act 1973 as one of the very rare sites of Danish warships under sail.
