Zee Vaard

The Greenland whaler Zee Vaard (alternatively Zeevard, Zeeward, Zeevart or De Zeevart) of Amsterdam, The Netherlands, Captain Haslaar. Whilst outward bound, was wrecked on the Muckle Fladdicap, approx 2 miles SSE of Whalsay on either 1st March or 1st April 1788 (the available records are in dispute). The captain, mate and 5 crew were saved by boat, but about 50 were lost.
