- Shetland Black, the famous Shetland potato, was added to the National Collection in 1923 but probably dates from Victorian times when there was a great deal of potato breeding using coloured varieties.
The Majken, a sail schooner, of Halmstad, Sweden, having been abandoned on February 10th, wrecked on Mousa.
Wreckage reported sighted with Fair Isle South Lighthouse, at a position 70 degrees E 11 miles. The identity, source and fate of which remains unknown.
