Conservative and Unionist Party
The Conservative or Conservative and Unionist Party, nicknamed "the Tories", is a right of centre/right wing party. They are one of two largest parties in Britain, having been in and out and power along with Labour since 1945 at Westminster. However, they have not formed a government at Holyrood.
In the European Parliament, they are part of the Movement for European Reform.

Perhaps the most famous Tory to come out of Shetland, other than Basil Neven-Spence, is the Thatcher era minister Norman Lamont who was raised in Grimsby in England.
He is also known as Baron Lamont of Lerwick, and was born in Shetland in 1942. He was Conservative MP for Kingston upon Thames from 1972 until 1997. He was a Minister also in the Departments of Energy, Defence and Industry but is best-known for his period serving as Chancellor of the Exchequer from 1990 until 1993.
