The 2008 Cullivoe Up Helly Aa took place on Friday 28th February, with Guizer Jarl Leslie Tulloch portraying Hakon Ivarsson.
This years Galley was named Drammen.
About the Jarl's Guizer name:
Hakon Ivarsson was an 11th century Earl in Norway. He was exiled by King Harald and given power in Sweden by King Steinkel. He was married to a woman called Ragnhild and had two children.
He was also the grandfather to Hakon Paulsson who killed Earl Magnus of Orkney in a battle on Egilsay.
