The Eclipse (PD364), a steel hulled steam fishing trawler, 35.8 L x 6.B B metres, 185 GRT, built 1899 Irvine Shipbuilding & Engineering Co. Ltd. West Hartlepool, England, Yard No. 18, owner Peterhead Trawling Co. Ltd. Peterhead, Scotland, registered in Peterhead, Scotland.

This vessel is recorded as having been stopped by, and sunk by gunfire from the German submarine U 45, (Commander Erich Sittenfeld), at a position approx 100 miles N by W of Brough Head, Orkney, on June 30th/July 1st 1917. This position equates to very approximately 70 miles NW of Foula. All of the crew are believed to have been saved.
