The John Bakke, a steel hulled steamship laden with a cargo of wheat for "Belgian Relief", 1611 GRT, 74 L x 11 B metres. Built by Bergens mek. Værksted, Bergen, (# 182), September 1913, for Knut Knutsen, Haugesund, Norway.
This vessel, en route from New York to Rotterdam, was sunk by the German submarine U-88, Captain Walther Schwieger, at a position approx 65 nautical miles to the East of Shetland on June 7th 1917.
