The Orion, a schooner, registered in Frederikstadt, Norway, laden with a cargo of timber, was presumed wrecked with the loss of all hands on or near to the south of the island of Mousa during a gale on November 27th 1864.
A ship's round house washed ashore at an unspecified location in Sandwick, a ship's headboard "Orion, Fredrickstadt" was found washed ashore at Cunningsburgh, a part of one half of a large vessel was discovered washed ashore on the island of Hascosay, and a considerable amount of oak planks and other wreckage were discovered in the vicinity of Mousa, leading to the conclusion the vessel had met her fate close by.
