Pennyland was the smallest unit of land used for taxation purposes.

The pennyland was one eighteenth of an urisland; the annual tax for one pennyland was originally valued with one eighteenth of one ounce of silver, an amount which was commonly known as one skat-penny.

There were 4 1/2 pennyland in one skatland.
