Resolution (1790)
The Resolution (alternatively De Resolution), a brigantine, Captain Rennet/Bennet registered in Drontheim (now Trondheim), Norway. While in passage with a cargo of stock fish from Drontheim (now Trondheim), Norway to the Streights of Gibralter and Genoa, Italy wrecked on Sligga Baa off the Isles of Gletness, Nesting on November 7th 1790. The records are unclear how many, if any survivors there were, one record states four souls were lost, and as her full complement is unknown, these four may have been all that were aboard, as another record states that there were no survivors. The ship's dog however, is said to have swum ashore and been discovered at Gletness in the morning.
The date of this wreck is generally accepted to have been 1790, however there has also been some suggestion that the date was 1778, this has been more or less discounted though as this wreck having been confused with another wreck of the same name which occured in Aberdeenshire, Scotland in that year.
