Shetland Live
Shetlopedia - The Shetland Encyclopaedia
A social network thats dedicated to Shetland and its people, sharing everything from stories to humour that only Shetlanders can really understand. The motto is "Sharing Shetland" or "Shetland as it happens".
The site, as a clone of a 'facebook' type site is trying to get across what a useful networking tool it is for Shetlanders everywhere and it should be fun as well as informative.
Inga Scott, who started the site, sees it as a tool to keep in touch with other Shetlanders in the now accepted 'online' way.
- Inga says:
"I saw it to be a friends reunited meets facebook with twitter/skype/youtube all together in one place but dedicated to a Shetland theme.
Were a very unique place and Shetlanders are very proud of their roots and its no all about Puffins and Ponies it should be about the people of Shetland wherever they are and their tales, their comments, their pictures, their videos etc,. Its all about the members contributions that bring the site LIVE. Plus anyone that joins Shetlandlive dusna feel like Joanny Nae Mates or feels "to old" as other social networks can.
We are hoping to start making some videos on the site for our Shetlandlive YouTube Channel and have secured Amanda Hawick to do a Shetland version of come dine with me for the site.
I'm hoping people will start making their own videos for us to include rather than them getting lost in YouTube as they have a local stage to play them now."
