Robbie,
can you, please, check the spelling. I wanted to correct "Aitsvoe" in the caption of the pic and found by then that I have only references for "Aith Voe" and "Aithvoe" but none with the "s" in the middle. Leave a note in case the graph has to be changed ;-) Islandhopper 04:30, 29 May 2007 (MDT)

Difficult one to be sure about, I named it Aithsvoe (can't remember what it says on the map, think that's Aithsvoe), but the "Aithsvoe Pier Trust" is a legally constituted organisation, and I assume they took the name from the voe.
My brother is on the Pier Trust, I will email him for confirmation

OK - we will wait.
btw: OS 25,000 (new) has Aith Voe only and "Aithsvoe Pier Trust" sounds perfectly right to me. That's the Shetland genus "s" as in other proper names like LunnaSting or AithSting ... ;-) Islandhopper 08:43, 29 May 2007 (MDT)

Couldn't get a reply from brother, sister says she thinks he has nothing to do with pier now,,, I never know what my family is up to ;-).. Done some checking though, and the Aithsvoe Pier is correct, but the Map shows Aith Voe. Not sure what to do but unless Heimdal can fill in any more info, we should change voe name to Aith Voe - Cunningsburgh, (Therefore in keeping with other voes, following map name.), and perhaps make reference to Aithsvoe Pier Trust, or say Aithsvoe is an alternative name.. As you say, this extra "s" which appears all the time in Shetland, is common, but also a pain in the butt ;-),,, or a pain in the **s* ;-)
